Staking is the core mechanism to earn rewards by locking your MINTY tokens in the contract. Locked tokens secure the token economy and reduce circulating supply.

How MINTY staking works
Staking locks MINTY, the utility token of the MintyBlocks NFT marketplace, in the token.minty contract on the WAX blockchain in exchange for a fixed annual yield. Longer commitments pay more: the shortest tier locks for 3 days at 3% APY, the longest for 360 days at 20% APY. Rewards accrue every second and can be claimed without resetting your lock. WAX transactions are gas-free, so staking, claiming and unstaking cost nothing in network fees.

How staking rewards are funded
Staking rewards are minted by the token contract against MINTY's fixed 100,000,000 maximum supply, and every issuance is checked against the remaining headroom under that cap. There is no separate emission schedule or treasury sale — new MINTY enters circulation only as staking rewards and as marketplace trade rewards, which pay 1% of every sale split evenly between buyer and seller. A 1% burn on standard transfers removes MINTY from supply in the other direction; staking movements are exempt from it.
What staking unlocks
- Tiered APY — 3% to 20% depending on lock length, accruing per second.
- MintyWaxBot Premium — activates at 20,000 MINTY staked, adding wallet tracking, unlimited daily alerts and priority notification delivery.
- Discounted homepage ads — an active staking tier reduces the cost of MintyStudio advertisement purchases.
- Burn exemption — staking and unstaking skip the 1% transfer burn entirely.
Staking does not reduce marketplace trading fees. Buyers pay exactly the listing price with no platform fee; sellers pay the collection royalty plus a 2% marketplace fee, the same for every account.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum amount of MINTY I can stake?
The minimum stake is 1.0000 MINTY. Marketplace trade rewards accrue as a boost balance and must reach that minimum before they can be staked.
Can I unstake before the lock period ends?
No. Lock periods are enforced on-chain by the token contract — staked principal cannot be withdrawn until the lock expires. Accrued rewards can still be claimed during the lock without resetting it.
Does staking MINTY trigger the 1% transfer burn?
No. Staking and unstaking move through internal contract paths that are exempt from the burn, so you are never taxed for staking or for withdrawing your principal.
What do I get for staking beyond APY?
Two things, both gated on stake: MintyWaxBot Premium activates at 20,000 MINTY staked, and an active staking tier earns a discount on MintyStudio homepage advertisement purchases. Staking does not reduce marketplace trading fees — those are the same for everyone.
What happens when my lock expires?
Nothing automatic — your tokens stay staked and keep earning. You can unstake whenever you choose after expiry to receive your principal plus any final accrued rewards.
