NFT farms

How NFT staking works on WAX

A farm creator funds a pool of reward tokens and sets a start and end date. Everyone who stakes NFTs into the farm shares that pool in proportion to their staked weight and the time it has been staked. Because WAX transactions are gas-free, staking, claiming and unstaking cost nothing in network fees.

Your NFTs stay yours throughout. While staked they are held by the farm contract and bound to the account that deposited them, so only that account can withdraw them.

Template weights

Farms can weight individual templates, so a rare NFT earns more than a common one. The weighting is fixed when the farm is created and shown on each farm's page, so you can see exactly what a given NFT will earn before you stake it.

Frequently asked questions

What is an NFT staking farm?

A farm where you deposit NFTs from a specific collection and schema instead of tokens. The farm pays out a fixed pool of reward tokens, shared between everyone staking in proportion to their staked weight and how long it has been staked.

Do I lose ownership of my NFTs?

The NFTs are held by the farm contract while staked, and are bound on-chain to the account that deposited them. Only that account can withdraw them — nobody else, including MintyBlocks or the farm creator, can move them.

Why do some NFTs earn more than others?

Farm creators can assign a weight per template, so a rare NFT can earn a larger share of the pool than a common one. The weights are set when the farm is created and are visible on the farm page, so you can check before you deposit.

Why does an NFT farm show a dash instead of an APR?

An APR is a percentage return on a principal, and an NFT has no price the contract knows. Rather than invent one, the farm shows no percentage. Judge an NFT farm by its reward pool, the total weight already staked, and the time remaining.

Why did my rewards go down?

The reward pool is fixed, so it is shared between everyone staking. As more NFTs are staked the same pool is split further and the rate per staker falls. That is how a fixed-pool farm works — it is not a change made by anyone.

Can I unstake at any time?

Yes, unless the farm sets an unstake delay. If it does, you request the unstake, wait out the delay, then withdraw. Rewards you have already accrued are always claimable, delay or not.
